AHVAZ |
|
As one of the
most ancient cities Ahwaz was called Oxeen as found in
historical manuscripts.
It was also called Hormoz Shahr during Sassanians when
it developed into their capital and the center of
Suzizana (Khoozestan today).The city is thoroughly hot
and humid in summer over 48.
Ahwaz is built on the banks of the Karun river in the
middle of the Iranian province of Khoozestan (850 km).
It was built
near the beginning of the Sassanid dynasty on what
historians believe to have been the site of the old city
of Taryana, a notable city under the Persian Achamenidae

It was founded
either by Ardeshir I in 230 by his grandson Hormizd I of
Persia. The distance of this city to Tehran is 874 km.

ARDEBIL |

The city of
Ardebil is located at the distance of 639 km from
Tehran, west to the volcanic mount of Sabalan, the
weather of the city is various between extreme cold on
the mountains, to moderate on the plains during winter
and in summer has a pleasant climate.
The name of Ardebil came from an Avesta's (the only book
of Zoroastrians, ancient Iranians) word "Artavil" which
means a" Holly Place".
The most important places to visit in Ardebil are as
following:
Neir Lake which is located 48 km south-east to the city
of Ardebil.
Wild animals can be seen in Sabalan Mount.
There are many protected wild life zones on the high
lands of the province out skirts of the mount Sabalan
they are: Sheer wan Darrehsi / Mowed / Hooshang Meydani
/ and the protected zone Neour which hosts wild animals
such as Brown Bear / Gary Bear / Fox / Wolf / Ram /
Armenian ewe / and Rabbit & birds such as Eagle can be
found too.

The history of Ardebil has close connections to that of
Azarbayjan. The province is believed to be as old as the
Achaemenid era 2500 BC. It is mentioned in the Avesta,
where Prophet Zoroaster was born by the Aras River; and
wrote his book in the Sabalan Mountains.
Many tourists come to the region for its cool climate
(max 35°) during the host summer months.
The mineral spring of Ardebil is Beele-Darreh, Sareyn,
Sardabeh and Booshloo, being famous for their medicinal
qualities through out Iran.
One of the most interesting mountains of Iran, with an
altitude of about 4800 m, is originally a volcanic
mountain.
The summit is located 41 km from Ardebil and can be
easily observed while traveling on the road to Sar Ein
and Ardebil.

HAMEDAN |
|
Hamedan or
Hamadan, the center of Hamedan province, is located in
the west part of Iran.
The history of Hamedan goes back to 2500 years ago.
It was the capital of Achaemenian ,Parthian and
Sassanians
* Temperature ranges between -4 and -33 c° in the cold
months.
Alvand Peak is the highest point in this province which
is 3574 meter high.
Today, Hamedan is what is left of Ekbatan, the Modes
capital before they formed a union with the Persians.
The poet Ferdowsi says that Ekbatan was built by King
Jamshid according to historical records, there was once
a castle in this city naming Haft Hessar (translated to:
seven walls) which had thousand rooms and its grandeur
equaled that of the Babylon tower.
The tomb of BaBa Taher and Avicenna are in this city.
The structure of this city is related to Diay Aku, A
king of the Modes from 700 BC.
According to Greek records, this territory was called
Ekbatan and Hegmataneh by this king; thus transformed
into a huge capital. |

ISFAHAN |

Isfahan located about 340 km south of Tehran is the
capital of Isfahan province and Iran’s third largest
city. It is situated at 1590 meters above sea level.
Isfahan has been designated by UNESCO as a world
heritage city.
Isfahan is counted one of the richest provinces in Iran
due to having many tourists visiting the monuments which
are remained from different period.
History of Isfahan can be traced back to the Paleolithic
period.
In recent archaeological discoveries, archaeologists
have found artifacts dates back to Paleolithic,
Mesolithic, Neolithic, bronze and iron ages.
Zayandeh Rud (Life Giving River), which is the greatest
and the most famous river in the center of Iran, and is
filled with old garden and some of the best sights in
Iran.
Isfahan is located in the east side of Zagros Mountain
Range. It's cold and snowy in winter and moderate in
summer.

KERMAN |
|
Kerman is the center of Kerman province and is located
1064 km south east of Tehran and enjoys a favorable
desert climate, hot in the day but cool at night.
Kerman city with a height of 1755 (m) is located on a
height margin of Kavir-e-Loot counted as one of the
oldest cities and its construction is attributed to
Ardeshir-e Babakan in 3rd century A.D.
It was ordered to be built by the founder of the Sassani
Empire (Ardeshir I) dating back around 2000 years. |

center of the country.

Kermanshah is
the capital of Kermanshahah province of Iran.
It's located in the middle of the western part of Iran
at 34° 18' N, 47° 4' E.
(525 km) 324 miles by the road from Tehran about 50
miles from border of Iraq, at the foot of the Zagros
Mountains .
The climate is moderate and mountainous. The height of
Kermanshah city is 1420 (m) above sea level.
The inhabitants are mainly Kurds of different tribes.
They speak Kurdish.
Kermanshah is one of the ancient cities of Iran and it
is called that "Tahmoores Divban".
It had been constructed by mythical ruler of the
Pishdadian during the reign of Qobad I and Anoushiravan.

Kermanshah was
made by the mythological king Tahmoores, the devil
buster.

Kermanshahi edible oil, engraving on copper and coarse

MASHHAD |
|
Mashhad is the
second largest city in Iran and of the holiest cities in
the Shi’a world. It is located 850 km East of Tehran,
Iran and the center of province of Razavi khorasan. This
city was found around 823 A.D.
Its name derives from Mashhad-e-Reza “place of martyrdom
“
It is a reference to the death of Imam Reza the eight
imam of shi’te Islam. This city is located at 36 20
latitude and 59 35 east longitude in the valley of the
Kashef River near Turkmenistan, between the 2 mountain
ranges of Binalood and Hezarmasjed. |

turquoise and saffron of Khorasan have achieved fame

ORUMIYEH |

Its capital is
west Azarbayjan province. The distance between Orumiyeh
and Tehran is 964 kilometers. And at an altitude of 1294
m above sea level.
Orumiyeh is located in the north west of Iran in a
mountainous area, to the west of the hung lake of
Orumiyeh near the Turkish border.
The lake is famous for two reasons:
Its healing properties attract people who suffer
rheumatic and dermal problems.
The lake, in a natural park having a unique variety of
migratory birds, is taken care of by the Iranian Green

QAZVIN |

Qazvin is a city
in Iran, around 130 km North West of Tehran in Qazvin
province. It is at an altitude of about 1800 meters
above sea level and is a city with a cool but dry

The name Qazvin is derived from Cas, an ancient tribe
which lived south of the Caspian Sea a thousand years
ago.
Qazvin Contains several archeological excavation dating

Shiraz is the
center of Fars province in Iran one of the most

The beautiful and charming city of Shiraz is about 919
km far from Tehran. Its elevation is 1486 meters above

capital of Fars was Pasargade. It was also the capital
of achaemenian king, Cyrus the great, some 2500 years

The ceremonial capital of this successor, Darius I, and
his son Xerxes, was Persepolis. Today, only the ruins of

Fars, established by the Sassanid and lasted until

poet's Hafez and Sa'adi.
